The New Television Workshop at WGBH supported the creation and broadcast of experimental works by artists. One of their projects was the Music Image Workshop, which was primarily a project of Ron Hays, who used the Paik-Abe videosynthesizer to create elaborate visual scores set to music.

I love that the Cast of Characters includes Sun, Place and Time. The colors are unexpectedly nice too.

Here's the recipe for hashish fudge direct from the Alice B Toklas cookbook.

Take 1 teaspoon black peppercorns, 1 whole nutmeg, 4 average sticks of cinnamon, 1 teaspoon coriander. These should all be pulverized in a mortar. About a handful each of stone dates, dried figs, shelled almonds and peanuts: chop these and mix them together. A bunch of canibus sativa can be pulverized. This along with the spices should be dusted over the mixed fruit and nuts, kneaded together. About a cup of sugar dissolved in a big pat of butter. Rolled into a cake and cut into pieces or made into balls about the size of a walnut, it should be eaten with care. Two pieces are quite sufficient. Obtaining the canibus may present certain difficulties.... It should be picked and dried as soon as it has gone to seed and while the plant is still green.

I watched I Love You Alice B. Toklas last summer and regretted it immediately. I hate Peter Sellers. I hate hippies. I hated this movie. This scene is all you really need to watch anyway.

I've done some restructuring of this website...

Things are changing. It is exciting. So for now, I've put everything old in the archives. These little previews of Stinko Blotto are also now silent. I'll be adding other mini movies to the archives as well--and--what else. Oh I dunno. I hate doing an "about" page so I've just left it blank for now-- I'll get around to it one of these days...

I've been reading up on ectoplasm and found this great essay in the Cabinet Magazine archives. An excerpt:

Ectoplasm is shapeless, it is "informe," a kind of primordial paste—and to show itself as this, it annexes semiotic markers that designate intermediate spirit worlds. When looking at these fluid, inchoate forms, sometimes imprinted with a face, it is worth recalling that the word larva, used in English for the early stage of a caterpillar, meant "ghost" or "specter" in Latin, but is also used by Horace to designate a mask, such as might frighten an observer, while the verb larvo meant "to bewitch" or "enchant." Ectoplasmic masks are indeed larval: they promise the emergence of forms, but don't deliver them.

Loco Moco: savory, L&L hawaiian barbecue hamburger patties placed over rice, covered with brown gravy and topped with 2 eggs. Served island style...a local favorite! I'm so chuffed...the only L+L on the East coast is a few blocks from my apartment.
